People generally have this conception of writers: that they’re poor, starving artists.

Freelance is a popular option. You choose what you take as a job and build up trust with certain clients and you usually go back to them again and again. Freelance isn’t the most reliable way of making money but, if you do it right, it can be a very good source of income.
For novelists, self-publishing is an alternative to traditional publishing and becoming more and more popular today. Self-publishing can be fairly easily done and it is, if marketed properly, a good way to get money and recognition for your work.
These are just some of the ways in which one might get money from their writing. If you had to choose between self-pub and traditional, which would you choose?
